Philosophy:
I take a comprehensive approach to addressing pain, function and performance. In developing a plan of care, a person's movement history, unique experiences, beliefs, and preferences are all important.
While hands-on therapy has a place, I emphasize education and active techniques to facilitate lasting change and empowerment.
Background
- Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University and Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics from Georgetown University
- Residency trained in Orthopedics with a focus on full-body biomechanical functional relationships at the Jackson Clinics in Northern Virginia
- Post-Doctoral training in Pelvic Health and Women's Health through the Herman & Wallace Institute
Additional Coursework: Neurodynamics, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, the Running Athlete, and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in the female-bodied athlete
- Personal movement history: teaching Spinning, coaching Crossfit, Olympic Lifting & Powerlifting
- Current favorite ways to move: yoga, pilates, cycling, tennis, hiking and strength training
